Lansinoh Breastmilk Storage Bags

Milk storage bagThe milk you express for your baby is a precious fluid.  It combines the best possible nutrition with vitamins, proteins and immunological agents that help babies grow and develop and protect them from infection. You’ll want to take good care of it and how you store breast milk is very important.

Lansinoh Breastmilk Storage Bags have been developed specifically for the freezer, and can also be used to store your breastmilk in the fridge.  Our manufacturing process enables us to produce these medical grade bags without using plasticisers, so substances that could be harmful to your baby will not leach into your breastmilk.

Lansinoh Breastmilk Storage Bag Product features:

  • Leak proof
  • Pre-sterilised
  • Double zipper for a secure seal
  • Convenient write-on tab above fill area to eliminate potential puncture
  • Made from food safe polyethylene (PE)
  • Tissue pack dispenser for easy access and storage
  • Easy to pour
  • Gusseted bottom to allow for expansion
  • Breastmilk storage guidelines included

How long can I store my breastmilk for?

Instructions for use:

  • Tear off the safety seal at the top of the bag and gently pull the double zipper seal apart
  • Pour breastmilk into the bag (be careful not to overfill), making a note of the volume
  • To avoid freezer burn, as much air as possible should be removed before freezing, by taking the bag between your fingers and pressing the air above the liquid towards the zipper
  • Seal the bag by compressing the double seal (repeat to ensure safe sealing)
  • Mark the volume and date on the write-on tab
  • Bags can be stored upright or flat in the fridge or freezer (when stored flat, bags are easier to thaw)

Please take care and handle Lansinoh bags with care when storing and removing from your freezer.  For instance, if a bag is dropped or it is damaged in any way, it could leak when defrosting.

What type of plastic are your bags made of?
Lansinoh Breastmilk Storage Bags are 100% virgin plastic.  Only when using virgin plastic can we be certain that no undesirable, and potentially harmful, plasticisers can leach into your milk.  Specifically, they are made of FDA approved Food Grade LDPE (low density polyethylene) and LLDPE (linear low density polyethylene).

Are your bags reusable?
Lansinoh Breastmilk Storage Bags are designed for one-time use only.

Can I use them to pump into?
Because Lansinoh Breastmilk Storage Bags have a double zipper closure, they do not fit directly onto a breast pump but you could use them if you are willing to hold the bag onto the pump with your hand.

How do I thaw my milk if frozen in your bags?
When thawing your milk it is important to handle it as gently as possible to preserve all the valuable nutrients.  If the bags have been stored flat they will take less time to thaw.  Breastmilk frozen in our bags can be thawed in the refrigerator or at room temperature.  You may also place the sealed bag in a bowl of warm tap water but never use extremely hot or boiling water.

Can I microwave my milk while it is in your bags?
No, microwaving is never recommended for breastmilk as it destroys valuable nutrients and vitamins in the breastmilk. Additionally, it can create dangerous “hot spots” that could burn your baby when feeding.

My frozen milk smells ‘soapy’ or rancid – why is this ?
This sometimes happens if your breastmilk is high in lipase, the enzyme that breaks down fat in the milk.  Depending upon the levels of lipase, you may also notice this smell after you have cooled your milk in the fridge.  It is still safe for your baby, but if you are concerned, you can scald your milk to deactivate the lipase before storing.  Heat the milk until small bubbles form around the edge of the pan (but not to boiling point) and then quickly cool and freeze it.  However, once your milk has been frozen and acquired this smell, scalding will not help.

Testimonials And Reviews

“I tried your breastmilk storage bags and loved them. Thank you for making it easier to be a breastfeeding mum."
Kim – Birmingham

"A great idea that works well, the storage bags are great for small and large feeds. I really liked the fact these bags have a double seal as makes them very secure. The bags are small so fit anywhere in the freezer. These work out at 20 pence each which is a really good price. Design is perfect and I love these bags - will certainly be recommending to friends and family! I love these bags, they are a great idea, a reasonable price and so easy to use. A must if you are expressing milk for freezer storage."
Rebecca Murray – baby Annabel 4 months
